William Simon Murtagh MacKenzie Fraser was the eldest child of Ellen and Brian Fraser, and elder brother to Jenny and Jamie.
Personal History[]
William was born shortly after his parents were married. Brian and Ellen had stolen away from Castle Leoch during the Gathering, and hid out in a crofter's cottage on the edge of the Fraser lands. They had decided that the only way forward was to get pregnant as soon as possible, so as to leave Ellen's older brothers, Colum and Dougal, no choice but to accept their union.
At age eleven, William died of smallpox.

- William carved a small snake out of cherrywood for his brother Jamie's fifth birthday. He inscribed the name "Sawny" on the snake underside, this being his nickname for Jamie.
