The Society for the Appreciation of the English Beefsteak is a fictional gentlemen's club in London, England, of which Lord John Grey is a member.
History[]
The Beefsteak has an atmosphere of cozy shabbiness, and serves excellent food. The dining rooms are laid out with white napery and heavy silver. In the library, there is what is called the Hermit's Corner, where three chairs face the windows to allow members the option of tacitly making known their desire for solitude. There is also a smoking room and a writing room.

- There have been a number of Beefsteak Clubs in London, the first of which was founded in about 1705. Another, founded in 1735, was called the Sublime Society of Beef Steaks.
