Natalie Simpson was born and raised in Nigeria. Her love for theatre began as a child in Nigeria. Before going to drama school Simpson filmed a lead role in feature film Tula: The Revolt as Speranza.
Simpson later graduated from the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art in July 2015. On her time at LAMDA, Simpson stated: “If you can survive that you can survive anything in the industry. I didn’t realise how much I needed it until I was there, most importantly for me it was voice and movement, I didn’t realise I was moving around so stiff and quiet.”[1]
From there she went straight into playing Juliet in Joe Hill-Gibbons Measure For Measure at the Young Vic.[2]
She is known for working extensively with the Royal Shakespeare Company. Simpson has played Cordelia in King Lear, Guideria in Cymbeline, and Ophelia in Hamlet.
She is currently playing Phaedre in Season Four of the Outlander television adaptation.
