Michael Weber was a German soldier who serves as an ober-lieutenant in the Hanoverian army during the Seven Years War, under the command of Lord John Grey's friend, Captain von Namtzen, in the Imperial Hanoverian Foot regiment. He was also the former lover of Percy Wainwright.

Lord John Grey meets Weber in 1758 at a dinner held in celebration of the joining of several British regiments and the Hanoverian army. Weber informs Grey that his friend, Captain von Namtzen, has lost his arm due to a wound that got infected.
Later that spring, Weber runs into his old lover, Percy Wainwright, and pressures him to have sex with him. Percy initially refuses, telling Weber that he is already seeing someone else (Grey), but Weber blackmails Percy, threatening to inform others of his homosexuality if he refuses to sleep with him.
While the two are having sex, they are caught by Grey and two other officers. Weber and Wainwright are both arrested.
Weber's commanding officer, Captain von Namtzen, attempts to allow Weber to die in battle rather than subjecting him to a disgraceful death under the charge of sodomy. When Weber survives the battle, von Namtzen shoots him himself.
Von Namtzen then takes Weber's body home to his mother so he can be mourned and honored as a fallen hero.
