Mamacita is the mother of Ermenegilda Ruiz Alcantara y Meroz, a young married woman who ran away with a priest.
Personal History[]
Mamacita accompanied her daughter when she eloped with Father Fogden. They lived on Hispaniola for two years before Ermenegilda died. Fogden buried her beneath the bougainvillea. Mamacita continued to live with Father Fogden, for she would not leave Ermenegilda, even in death.

Mamacita serves lunch to Father Fogden, Lawrence Stern, and Claire Fraser, the latter two having emerged from the jungle after a hurricane. In her severe manner, Mamacita refers to them (in Spanish) as the "Christ-killer" and puta alba, or the "white whore".
Personality[]
Mamacita has a habitually malicious countenance, and uses her native Spanish to express her poor opinion of her foreign house guests.
Physical Appearance[]
Less than four feet tall and with a round, solid body, Mamacita has black eyes and gray hair, which she wears in a tight bun. Her skin is a light mahogany color, and Claire notes that she resembles a wooden doll.
