Dragonfly in Amber[]

Claire Fraser delivers some intelligence papers to Ewan at Holyrood while Jamie is ill. Later, after returning from Beauly to find his men imprisoned in the Tolbooth, Jamie demands answers from Ewan, who explains that the Lallybroch men were caught trying to desert.

Voyager[]

After the disaster at Culloden, Ewan, along with Iain MacKinnon, helps to lift Jamie off the battlefield and bring him into the cottage. Eventually the English find the men injured and dying, and Ewan Cameron is among those shot as traitors. Before he leaves, Jamie tells Ewan he will be with him again soon, and Ewan kisses Jamie on the mouth before leaving the cottage to be shot.

In 1766, Claire hears the story about Margaret Campbell's trauma and shares it with Jamie, who guesses that Margaret was Ewan Cameron's sweetheart. Months later, they meet Margaret on Jamaica where she has been taken into the custody of a group of escaped slaves, who revere her for her capacity as an oracle. She asks Jamie after Ewan, and, fearing for her fragile mental state, he lies and he says that Ewan is well, then gives her a kiss from Ewan.

Personality[]

He was good-humored and devoted to his duty in the Stuart cause.

Physical Appearance[]

Claire suspected that Ewan had a tapeworm, given his prodigious appetite yet cadaverous appearance.[1] Years later, she recalls him as a "tall, handsome joker of a man."[2]
