Cyrus Crombie is half brother of Hiram Crombie, the informal leader of the Protestant Thurso settlers on Fraser's Ridge.
Personal History[]
Cyrus was born in Scotland, possibly near Thurso, like his half-brother Hiram. He is raised in a Gaelic speaking household, and is more comfortable in Gaelic than in English.[6] He arrives at the Ridge to live with Hiram, his half-brother on the paternal side.[7]

Go Tell The Bees That I Am Gone[]
Cyrus confides in Hiram that he liked Fanny Pocock, Jamie and Claire Fraser's foster daughter, after seeing her in church. Hiram obtains Jamie's consent for the two to spend time together, though always with adult supervision. Cyrus is nervous and timid around Fanny, but clearly interested. He begins to teach her bits of Gaelic so they can speak. However, tragedy strikes when he drops a precious portrait of Fanny's sister, Jane Pocock in a river. Cyrus is extremely repentant, but Fanny is initally furious. She forgives him after Brianna is able to repair her portrait, and they begin courting slightly more formally.
Later, he is enlisted as one of the youngest members of Jamie's new militia. Though Hiram had asked jamie to take him, Cyrus appears eager and excited for the responsiblity. He appears slighty traumatized after seeing battle for the first time at King's Mountain, but emerges uninjured.
He later attends the wedding of Silvia Higgins and Bobby Higgins, bringing along a small wedding present.

He is timid and shy.
Physical Appearance[]
He is very tall and very thin, much taller than Hiram. [8] He has thick light brown curls that he wears to his shoulders.
Name[]
- Crombie is a Dalriadan-Scottish name, originally for a person who lived in the place Crombie, in the parish of Aucterless in the shire of Aberdeen. The place-name Crombie was originally derived from the Gaelic term crom, which means "crooked."[9]
Trivia[]
- He lives at the west end of the cove, several miles from Claire and Jamie.[10]
