Charles-Claire Fraser is the child of Fergus and Marsali Fraser. He and his twin brother Alexandre Fraser are the youngest two of Fergus and Marsali's six children.

Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone[]
Charles-Claire Fraser was born in the summer of 1779[3] in Charles Town, South Carolina to Fergus and Marsali Fraser. It is unknown whether he was born before or just after his twin, Alexandre Fraser. His sisters Joan Fraser and Félicité Fraser were present for his birth, though his older brother Germain Fraser was not. His other other brother Henri-Christian Fraser, died a year before he was born. His parents considered naming him and his twin brother after Henri-Christian, but decided against it.
A few months after his birth, he is introduced to his large extended family, including his grandfather, Jamie, and his grandmother and namesake, Claire. However, not long after, the printshop in which he and his family live burns down, and he and his siblings and parents relocate to Wilmington.[4]

Physical Appearance[]
He has light brown hair and a round face.[5]
Name[]
- Claire is the French form of Clara, which itself is the feminine form of the Late Latin name Clarus which meant "clear, bright, famous". The name was given to him after his grandmother, also named Claire.[6][7]
- Fraser may be derived from Fredarius, Fresel or Freseau. Another suggestion is that the Frasers were a tribe in Roman Gaul, whose badge was a strawberry plant.[8]
