Anna Ooka (sometimes spelled Annaooka) is a Tuscarora village two days' travel to the northwest of Fraser's Ridge.[1] It was a real settlement, though little record of it remains.[2]
History[]
Anna Ooka is noted in several surveys in the 18th century, but the origins and history of the place are largely unknown.

Drums of Autumn[]
On their way to find a place to establish their new home, Claire and Jamie encounter Nacognaweto and several of his sons after Jamie fights and kills a bear that the other men had been hunting. Later, Nacognaweto returns with his grandmother Nayawenne, his wife Gabrielle, and Gabrielle's daughter Berthe. Claire, Jamie, and Ian regularly interact with the Tuscarora from Anna Ooka, and later visit Anna Ooka themselves. Their experiences with the residents are almost universally positive, with Jamie telling William that the people of Anna Ooka are "more courteous and hospitable than most folk I've met in England."[3]
Later, the village is exposed to the measles. The carrier is likely to be a Tuscarora man from a village north of Anna Ooka. The dying man is left in Claire's care, but Jamie sets off along with William to warn the other villagers of the illness.
Unfortunately, by the time Jamie arrives, nearly three quarters of Anna Ooka's population has died of the measles. The survivors are leaving their village for another Tuscarora village, Oglanethaka, though Nacognaweto believes the residents of Anna Ooka are cursed.
